ENABLE EYES COMEBACK
SUPER filly Enable has taken another big step towards a highly anticipated racecourse comeback.
Last year’s winner of the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe came through a key gallop at Newmarket, which impressed watchers.
John Gosden’s multiple Group One winner suffered a setback earlier in the season and has been on the sidelines ever since.
Her main aim is the defence of her Arc crown but a return in the Juddmonte International on August 22 has been mooted, although connections have also stressed that she will not be rushed.
Owner Khalid Abdullah’s racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said:
“Enable galloped on the Al Bahathri on Wednesday. She showed a good action and attitude as well, and she’s taking little steps towards a comeback run.
“York would be a nice option but we will certainly not push her to get there just for that race and we have the option of the September Stakes at Kempton on September 8 if not.” Meanwhile, nine British horses will bid to win tomorrow’s Group One Prix Maurice De Gheest at Deauville. Among them is Sands Of Mali, who disappointed in the July Cup, Kevin Ryan’s Brando, George Scott’s James Garfield and Dean Ivory’s Librisa Breeze. But the best of the UK raiders could turn out to be The Tin Man, who already has two Group One victories under his belt.
