TAI WOFFINDEN put his birthday celebrations on ice last night to boost his bid for a third world title.
The Great Britain skipper had an early night on his 28th birthday to prepare for tonight’s Scandinavian Grand Prix in Sweden.
Woffinden leads the standings by 20 points and will be aiming to finish in the top four for a seventh successive Grand Prix.
He is still on track to become the first British rider to win three world titles, but said: “I let other people do the talking about the championship.
“A lead means nothing until you cross the final finishing line. You can’t look into the future, you have to live in the moment.”
Woffinden turned in a wonder show in the British GP three weeks ago.
His ex-Wolverhampton team-mate, Swede Fredrik Lindgren, is still in second place despite a low score in Cardiff and believes his title dream is not over.
He said: “Tai has been racing really well and deserves to be in the lead.
“It’s never over until it’s over and I’m going to do everything I can to be as successful as I can be.”
Woffinden’s biggest threat could be four-time world No.1 Greg Hancock, who will be racing on his home Swedish track at Malilla.
But he said: “You can’t bank on having any advantage because I have to treat it like any other GP.”
