Gran wins payout as ‘there’s too many Spaniards in Spain’
HOLIDAY gran Freda Jackson has won compensation from a travel firm after complaining her Benidorm hotel had “too many Spaniards in it”.
The retired care worker was left in tears by the two-week “disaster” trip and moaned: “Why can’t the Spanish go somewhere else for their holidays?”
A BRITISH holidaymaker has been offered compensation by a travel firm after moaning her Benidorm hotel had “too many Spaniards in it”.
Freda Jackson, 81, said she was so upset she cried at the end of her two-week trip to the Spanish resort where the hit ITV comedy Benidorm is filmed.
She said her accommodation was teeming with “rude” locals who nearly knocked her over.
The pensioner said: “The hotel was full of Spanish holidaymakers and they really got on our nerves because they were just so rude.
“One evening a Spanish guy nearly knocked me flying and he just walked off without even apologising. The entertainment in the hotel was all focused and catered for the Spanish.
“Why can’t the Spanish go somewhere else for their holidays?”
The gran of six, from Blackburn, and a pal paid £1,133 for the holiday at the Poseidon Playa via Thomas Cook.
But Freda, who is a former care assistant, said it was a “disaster from start to finish”.
Thomas Cook initially offered Freda and her friend a £75 holiday voucher as compensation. But after the friends declined it the firm increased it to £566.
A Thomas Cook spokesman said: “We have offered Ms Jackson and her travel companion a gesture of goodwill to try and put things right which we hope she will accept.”
