RICHARD HITS A NEW PEAK

- Rita Ora Adele

„

SOME major bumps are going down today in honour of Madonna who toasts her 60th birthday. The singer is marking the occasion with a fundraiser for children in Malawi.

But while she mucks about in “cake hats”, celebrity pals have been sending their best wishes via Beats 1 on Apple Music.

„

said: “There’s a reason there is only one Madonna. For me, she’s the complete definition of evolving, and evolving, and evolving each time.”

Diplo agreed, adding: “Madonna in one sentence? Elegance, professionalism, and complete awesomeness. She is just a boss. As far as musicians I’ve ever worked with, she’s the number one.

“The Madonna tracks I love are La Isla Bonita and Cherish.”

Robyn said: “Like „

A Prayer is my favourite. It’s an amazing song because it talks about the mystery of being alive. “She’s always been deep. I was a part of her tour and got to say hi in 2010.” WIGAN warbler Richard Ashcroft believes he’s peaked as a songwriter on his new album.

The former Verve man releases Natural Rebel on October 19 produced with Jon Kelly (Paul McCartney) and Emre Ramazanoglu (Jarvis Cocker).

He explained: “With experience comes knowledge and for me this is my strongest set of songs to date. All my favourite sounds distilled into something that will hopefully give my fans lasting pleasure. It is for them. Music is power.”

Catch Ashcroft with Liam Gallagher at Lancashire County Cricket Club on Saturday.
