Gracia: Andre’s a classy striker

- By DAVID ANDERSON

ANDRE GRAY was praised for a touch of class by Javier Gracia after helping Watford earn their first away win in nine months.

The former Turf Moor striker did not celebrate after volleying home the opener, with the Hornets boss saying it spoke volumes about the 27-year-old.

“That spoke about him as a player and about him as a person,” Gracia said after seeing Gray score the first away goal of his seven-month reign to maintain their perfect start.

“He’s a great player and a great person. Last season he didn’t play so much, but he always helps the team.

“This season he is playing more and scoring more goals and he deserves it.”

Gracia was relieved to get his first win on the road, saying: “For me it is always important to get a win and today was my first away win, so I am really pleased.

“I don’t like to look back at statistics from last season, I prefer to enjoy this moment.

“I’m very happy for the players. Today we scored three, so we have done better than we did last season.

“It’s always important for your strikers to score goals and Troy (Deeney) and Andre did that for us.

“I know this is not an easy place to come to and get the points, so I am very happy.

“We have made a good start, but I am only thinking about the next game against Crystal Palace.”
