Pogba lets rip at pals

mad. The next game we want to change this and be happy at the end.

“They had more hunger than us. We made mistakes we shouldn’t.

“It was definitely not good enough. It’s two times in a row we’ve lost against Brighton and I think that shouldn’t happen.

“Last year we had almost the same attitude as today and it’s not right. It’s not right, myself first. I should have done much better, made less mistakes and controlled the game.

“Today was a bad performance from all of us. We have to wake up for the next game and definitely not play like we did.

“We are Manchester United and we want to win trophies. That’s the mentality and culture of the club.”

Mourinho watched his flops self-destruct, with centre-backs Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof having a nightmare, though he refused to criticise them publicly.

Critical

The United boss has openly criticised Luke Shaw, Pogba and Anthony Martial in the past. But he admitted he cannot do that now.

Mourinho said: “Last season when I was critical of my team and was debating openly the performances I was criticised for being too open.

“I will be open when they are doing well. When I speak about individual displays and am critical with my players you don’t accept it.

“I’ll analyse my players’ performances when they are very good. When I can’t do that, don’t push me to the other side.

“I was not expecting big mistakes. We are not speaking about small mistakes. We were punished by this..

“Every person in every job who makes a mistake is not happy. Self-esteem goes down, confidence levels…it’s human nature.

“In previous seasons I was probably too honest and too open in my analysing.”

Brighton boss Chris Hughton said: “I’m very proud. A victory we deserved. There’s not a player who didn’t play well.

“The tempo of our game, and the reaction from last week, was very good. To score three goals against one of the top six is always a very difficult feat.”
