WHAT’S HOT TO WATCH TODAY

EMMERDALE’s Victoria is massively unimpressed tonight (7pm, ITV) when she finds Abby in tears. But by jumping to the wrong conclusion as to why, she goes and puts her foot in it.

It’s Abby, remember, that Victoria’s chum Matty is more interested in hanging out with – the snag being that she hasn’t had a clue about his transition. Matty has decided it’s time he came clean to her, so that’s what Victoria assumes Abby is now sobbing about.

Turns out, though, that Matty has yet to break the news. But by the time Victoria realises this, she’s already gone and blurted out his secret. ELSEWHERE, on BBC1, we’ve got episode four of AGE BEFORE BEAUTY (9pm), a loveably daft drama I somehow find myself enjoying more and more as the weeks pass, possibly because so many sneering critics hate it.

This week the fantastically loathsome Leanne (Kelly Harrison) has arranged for the struggling MirrorBel salon to have its own stand at a specialist beauty fair. And now she’s promoting herself as some sort of anti-ageing guru. Meanwhile, her scheming toad of a hubby, Ted (Robson Green), is promising Leanne’s big sister Bel (Polly Walker), the true love of his life, that he’s prepared to pump more cash into the business – just as long as this remains their little secret…

ALSO tonight, MANHUNTING WITH MY MUM (10pm, Channel 4) finds TV presenter and singleton AJ Odudu embarking on a road trip to Nigeria, where her mother, longing for grandkids, plans to do some serious matchmaking.
