WE’RE NOSEY IN THE NORTH THA KNOWS!

We love to spy on pals

BRITAIN’S nosiest neighbours are in the north, with homeowners in Edinburgh and Newcastle keenest to snoop on pals.

More than a quarter (27%) of those polled in the Scottish capital said they love spying on those next door from the comfort of their home.

The Geordies were close behind, with 25% saying they were happy taking a peek, ahead of Leeds on 21%.

Millennials are the age group most likely to be curtaintwitchers, with baby boomers second. But southern homeowners keep more to themselves, unlike comic Paul

Whitehouse’s nosey TV character Michael Paine.

Southampton and London were the only southern cities in the top 10.

Homeowner happiness is also at an all-time low in

London, where views and lack of space are among the biggest grumbles.

The results come from a survey by Express Bi-Folding Doors, who grilled more than 2,000 UK homeowners on issues such as views, garden size and clutter.

General manager Steve

Bromberg said: “It’s not all doom and gloom, with large swathes of the country pleased with their view. Despite London boasting some of the highest house prices, money clearly doesn’t buy happiness for homeowners in the capital, who are preoccupied by the size of their pad or the view outside their window.”

The report found 60% of Londoners wished for more space, followed by 53% of people in Brighton and 48% of Brummies.

But only 15% of the nation claimed they would be happier if they had a bigger garden and 3% wished it was smaller.
