Owen: Klopp leads title tilt

- BET CHARLIE McCANN OF THE WEEK

MICHAEL OWEN reckons whoever finishes above his old club Liverpool this season will win the title.

The BetVictor brand ambassador and Anfield legend believes the old Reds might have wilted and conceded against a spirited Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park this week.

But the dual defensive acquisitions of Virgil van Dijk in the January window and keeper Alisson Becker in the summer have added steel and calmness to the Anfield defence.

In the end they coasted to a 2-0 win and I fully expect them to keep another clean sheet against Brighton in today’s late kick-off.

Jurgen Klopp’s side put nine past Brighton in their two games last season and the Seagulls failed to muster a shot on target at Watford on the opening day of the season.

Chris Hughton’s side obviously improved on that to beat a disappointing Manchester United at the Amex but Liverpool at home are a different proposition.

Chris Hughton has lost his last 12 away games against the Premier League ‘big six’, conceding 38 goals in the process.

Liverpool are unbeaten in 22 league games at Anfield and have kept a clean sheet in their last six. The Reds are 8-15 to lead at half-time and fulltime but the choice is for the Reds to win to nil at

10-11 with BetVictor. Sadio Mane has scored three times in his first two games and we offer 7-4 for the striker to score 15 or more this season. That gives him 36 games to bag

12 goals.

We flagged up Liverpool at 5-2 to win any trophy this season as overpriced. Jurgen Klopp’s side are 2-1 to win silverware this term, 5-1 to go unbeaten at home this season and 14s to score 100 or more goals this term.

Palace are unbeaten in their last seven league games at Watford.

The Eagles will have to do without the excellent Aaron Wan-Bissaka after his red card against Liverpool but what an athlete and prospect Roy Hodgson and Gareth Southgate have at their disposal.

Watford have impressed in winning both games so far but I feel Palace will pick up a point and a 1-1 draw is the pick at 6-1.

Wilf Zaha – who scored at Craven Cottage on the opening day of the season – is 11-8 favourite to be the Eagles’ top scorer with Christian Benteke 2s and

5s Bar.
