Beltran has title defence in his sights

- FRANK WARREN

RAY BELTRAN returns to the ring this weekend against the man known as ‘The Sniper’ hoping his big-money clash with Vasyl Lomachenko won’t be gunned down.

The WBO lightweight champion defends his title against Jose Pedraza in the early hours of tomorrow morning on the other side of the Atlantic.

And it’ll certainly be a clash worth setting your alarm clocks early for.

Feared puncher Beltran (inset) is taking on the former world champion and it is expected to be a super showdown between two big hitters.

Prize on offer for the winner is a December date with pound-forpound king and WBA champion Lomachenko.

My old friend and promoter Bob Arum continues to put on the big fights in America and these two duels are further proof he can still deliver even at 86.

This is a great fight for our BoxNation subscribers and we have more exciting news with a new international rights deal set to be signed.

Looking back at last weekend, and what a night we had in Belfast with Tyson Fury and ® Interview by

CHRIS McKENNA Carl Frampton at Windsor Park. It says a lot about the action that nobody left their seats even when the rain came down hard ringside.

BT Sport Box Office open with the huge middleweight match-up between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez against Gennady Golovkin on September 15 – what a sensational start.

There have been concerns about more pay-per-view boxing but this gives us strength to deliver the biggest and best fights. It is not up to us what others do and nothing is stopping anyone putting any bill as pay-per-view.

But we will focus on delivering big fights that are worth paying for and that have boxers worthy of getting the big bucks.

Beltran v Pedraza is live and exclusive on BoxNation from 2.30am on Sunday.
