BRYSON’S A 5-TRY HERO

- 80 10

BRYSON GOODWIN led the charge as Warrington bounced back from their Wembley misery in devastating style.

They have only one trophy left to fight for after their heartbreaking defeat to Catalans in Saturday’s Challenge Cup Final.

But, judging by this ruthless victory, they look hell-bent on chasing down that Grand Final silverware.

Centre Bryson ripped in for five tries, with seven other players joining in the 14-try rout.

There were absolutely no signs of a hangover as they went gunning for vengeance straight from the opening whistle.

Josh Charnley raced over for his 209th try in 215 rugby league appearances with less than three minutes on the clock.

Hull cancelled that out with a try by Fetuli Talanoa but it proved to be a rare moment of success for the visitors as the Wolves ran riot.

Restless

After that the Wolves tries came thick and fast against a side that look to have major problems.

At the end of May Hull were fourth and on course for a Grand Final push.

Since then they have lost nine out of 11 and are in freefall. Even those two wins were only against strugglers Salford and Widnes and fans are growing increasingly restless.

This was a display that lacked heart or any real determination to defend their line.

Poor defence was to blame for both of Toby King’s first-half tries, while three players failed to stop Jack Hughes barging over.

Goodwin grabbed his first two before the interval on the back of some terrific build-up play, and the Kiwi continued to go for Hull’s throats in the second half.

He clocked up two more tries after the restart to punish Hull’s shambolic defence.

At least a try from Josh Griffin gave their fans something to cheer.

But Goodwin and Co continued to pile on the misery in a record Super League defeat for Hull.
