Daryl knows it’s all about Tigers

- By JULIE STOTT

DARYL POWELL has warned his Tigers to wipe out thoughts of backlashes and home advantage.

Castleford can expect a massive reaction from Hull tonight in the wake of their humiliating 80-10 defeat by Warrington.

The Tigers also know they need to win well to keep alive any slim hopes of a home semi-final next month.

But Powell

(inset) said he doesn’t want his players worrying about either

– because he isn’t.

He said: “Hull have had the owner and the coach giving them a fair old hard time this week, so you would expect them to have a go at us.

“But for us, it has got to be about us. We have got to put them under pressure and just play our game the way we want.”

Castleford will book a semi-final spot if they win tonight, with three games to spare, but they face an uphill battle to claim a home tie.

But Powell insists he isn’t bothered, adding: “I do not think it matters who or where we play. We will be confident. “That is down the track. We need to keep building momentum and look forward to some huge challenges. “This is an important game for us because we need a bit of consistency. “We have fought our way through a fair bit of injury issues but we are starting to have a fair bit of competition for places now.

“I can now make decisions on form as we move towards the end of the season.” Fourth-placed Warrington will also book a semi-final spot if they beat Huddersfield at home in tonight’s other Super 8s game.
