HOT ASH LANDS MIRROR BEAUTY
EXPERTS have branded the 42lb 10oz mirror carp taken from the River Thames as catch of the season.
Banked by Ash Geden, the fish fell to a Dynamite Baits CompleX-T pop-up boilie, presented over a bed of particles, in a swim he’d been prebating for several months.
According to the Thames Anglers’ Conservancy, the carp is a new record for the river, although fish growing to over 50lb are rumoured to have been captured from the waterway.
Angling legend Matt Hayes said: “There’s something very special about catching a wild, unknown fish from a big river – fishing is at its most exciting when there’s an element of mystery and that’s not always possible in lakes where every carp has a name.” °
