AIDAN Turner is filming his last outing as hunky Ross Poldark.

BBC bosses yesterday confirmed rumours that the fifth series of Poldark will definitely be the last.

The news will be tough for the millions of viewers who love the period drama.

It turned Irish actor Aidan into one of the country’s most famous sex symbols.

Old

Producers had to call time on the show because in future series his character would be too old for Aidan to play him.

But writer Debbie Horsfield has hinted the show could return one day.

She said: “This will be the last series in the Poldark chronicle...for now.

Who knows what the future may bring?” The first four series of Poldark have closely followed the novels by Winston Graham.

But the new episodes will be set during a 10-year period he didn’t cover.

That means Debbie has had to go off book for the new plots.

Winston’s son Andrew Graham said: “No-one can know what my father would have felt about the forthcoming series, let alone what he might have written.

“However, Debbie has demonstrated such an extraordinary affinity with his work and shown such remarkable skill in bringing his Poldark characters to the screen that we know we are in safe hands.”

The new series will air on BBC One next year.
