At least I turn up to work, Ant!
PIERS GONG JIBE
TELLY bigmouth Piers Morgan yesterday took a swipe at troubled Ant McPartlin for taking time off from telly.
In a rant on Good Morning Britain, he said: “At least I pitched up for work.”
The 53-year-old breakfast host was angry after he failed to win anything at Monday night’s TV Choice Awards.
Meanwhile, Ant and Dec enjoyed a double victory with Saturday Night Takeaway and I’m A Celebrity.
The Geordie lads did not attend the bash so were unable to pick up the awards in person.
Ant has taken a break from presenting duties to battle his demons after a drinkdriving car smash earlier this year.
That meant new dad Declan Donnelly had to front the live shows of Britain’s Got Talent without him and will host I’m A Celebrity with Holly Willoughby, 37, later this autumn. But Piers reckons that is not good enough.
He moaned: “Ant and Dec winning everything when one half of them isn’t even there – it’s ridiculous, isn’t it?
“At least I pitched up for work.” Piers went on: “I’ve decided not to go to any more awards ceremonies ever.
“My award comes every day from you, the viewers. “When you tune in, in ever-larger numbers, that is the award that I like to receive.
“That’s all that matters. The rest of it is just trinkets.”
