MY girlfriend really is the biggest liar I have known – she struggles to ever tell the truth.

Even if I ask her something as simple as “Did you use up the last of the milk?” she will say “No” even though it’s obvious she has.

I find myself literally banging my head against the wall at least once a day.

She leaves the house telling me she’s going to the cash machine or the corner shop and then staggers home six hours later. I ask her why she’s blind drunk, and she fibs about where she’s been.

Single

Later I find pictures of her with other women – and blokes – on social media and she is forced to admit that she’s been out with people from her work on a beano that’s been planned for weeks.

When we first met she told me she’d been single for two years. I thought she was amazing.

I couldn’t believe that she hadn’t been snapped up and invited her to move in with me during our third date.

Now she’s here and her backstory is like something out of a soap opera. The reality is that she was still with her ex-lover when she moved in here.

Her two children (six and seven) live with her mother and there are certain ex-lovers and former business partners who she’s still technically hiding from.

She owes money everywhere – although she won’t tell me exactly how much and to whom – and one ex-boss whose marriage she destroyed has vowed to ruin her.

Even when I sit down with her and beg her to tell me the absolute truth about herself, she still leaves stuff out.

This morning, for example, I found some recent letters shoved under the bed from a man claiming to be her father.

Well, she once told me her birth dad died in a fire in 2007, so who this guy is goodness only knows.

I’m not a bad bloke. Is it really so hard for her to tell the truth to me in order to finally set the record straight? JANE SAYS: My guess is that your girlfriend is a very confused, conflicted and complicated person.

Whenever things get tough, she goes into fairytale mode.

She says anything to get herself out of a tight spot. Whether she does that with malice or simply out of fright is for you to decide.

That said, from angry ex-bosses to bitter ex-lovers, she sounds as if she makes a habit of hacking people off and running off without facing the consequences.

What mother fails to mention t he two children living with their grandmother? What daughter has letters from a mystery father shoved under the bed? I worry you’ve bitten off more than you can chew with this individual.

Will you ever know what makes her tick? I doubt it, because I wonder if she knows fact from fiction any more. I hate the idea of you losing it out of pure frustration.

Is this relationship really worth the continuing aggravation?

Can you really live in fear of the next social media posting or thump on the front door? Start considering your own health and limits and, if she really can’t meet you halfway, then move on.
