TEMPTING TUSK
Hannon hope can land St Leger
LAH TI DAR will face some stiff competition today when the season’s final Classic gets underway at Doncaster.
After much deliberation, connections opted to run Frankie Dettori’s mount in the St Leger (3.35) and John Gosden’s star filly has really strengthened in the market, moving to 7-4 from 4-1. Very impressive at York last time, Lah Ti Dar bids to remain unbeaten in three starts and the step up in trip will suit the daughter of Dubawi.
But I’ve put my money where my mouth is and backed Raymond Tusk at 16-1 for Unibet ambassador Richard Hannon, who saddled Ventura Storm to second spot in 2016 and his trainer rates this horse as much better.
Andrea Atzeni’s mount suffered a small setback prior to his gallant second at Newbury last time so is expected to be much sharper this afternoon.
Keep an eye on another filly, Maid Up, supplemented on Monday and a popular punt after her odds tumbled into
14-1 from 33-1.
The corks will be popping if Too Darn Hot wins the Champagne Stakes at 3.00 and this full brother to Lah Ti Dar looked brilliant at Sandown last time.
Mustashry has been the best backed in the Park Stakes at
2.25 and Encrypted is the money horse in the Portland at 1.50.
At Leopardstown, Roaring Lion tops the market in the Irish Champion Stakes at
(6.35) but watch French raider Study Of Man, who could be worth a punt at 6-1 if the ground turns up really soft.
Alpha Centauri has the Matron Stakes (5.25) at her mercy and Psychedelic Funk has been popular in the Boomerang Stakes at 6.00.
Tomorrow at the Curragh Just Wonderful has attracted interest in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at 3.40 and Quorto is the one for cash in the National Stakes (4.15).
