Kev’s hunting down heroes

- By JULIE STOTT

KEVIN BROWN hopes to have the last laugh on his little lad’s two heroes this week.

The Warrington star’s six-year-old son Harry worships St Helens duo Jonny Lomax and Mark Percival.

But former England half-back Brown plans to take them down a peg or two when the two sides clash on Saturday.

He said: “Harry is coached by Jonny at his club and he absolutely loves him.

“Mark Percival is also involved and he’s his big mate too – because he’s a similar mental age to Harry!

“Harry tells me I’m his favourite but behind my back I think he prefers

Jonny, or anyone who is doing well.

“The other week it was Danny Richardson at Saints, and at Magic Weekend I had to ask Wigan’s Liam Marshall if Harry could have a photo taken with him.”

Lomax coaches Brown Jnr at Orrell St James, the junior club that helped turn his dad into an England superstar.

Brown says he is happy that his son is trying to follow in his footsteps, saying: “It’s really great to have him enjoying this with me.

“He comes on the field after games and gives me a cuddle and he always says a prayer before every game for us. He loves being involved and is a good little player.

‘‘He’s a lot braver than I was at that age I can tell you.”

Warrington lost 26-6 to Wigan at the weekend and are now almost certain to face Saints in the semi-final of the Grand Final campaign.

Saturday’s Super 8s game is unlikely to reveal too much about their Old Trafford chances, though, as both teams will tinker.

Wolves are determined to time their Grand Final bid to perfection, having lost three finals since 2012.

Brown, 33, is desperate to help them break their Super League duck after the disappointment of their Challenge Cup final defeat last month.

Brown, who joined Warrington last year, said: “I have played in four finals and lost them all – a World Cup final and three Challenge Cup finals.”
