DEENEY DROPS HINT
Troy the boy for England
TROY DEENEY delivered a timely reminder to England boss Gareth Southgate that he is still around.
The Watford talisman, 30, has yet to be called upon by the Three Lions, three years after rejecting invitations to play for Jamaica.
Last week he moaned that he and others like him need to be playing for more fashionable clubs to get the nod.
He may not get his chance this time against Croatia and Spain next month, though, as he waits for the results of a scan on his latest foot injury, which Timothy Fosu-Mensah should have been sent off for inflicting.
Talking
Deeney was already playing with three broken toes but completely bullied Fulham at Craven Cottage in a match the Hornets should have won easily before Slavisa Jokanovic’s side staged a late rally to grab a fortunate point.
Deeney’s team-mate and former England goalkeeper Ben Foster said: “Yes, maybe that call might have come but it has always been the way.
“The likes of Troy just need to keep going and follow in the footsteps of people like Ricky Lambert. They still got a chance. Troy can only do his talking on the pitch.
