Pogba’s Jose dig

United boss attacked over negative tactics

- By JEREMY CROSS

PAUL POGBA has hit out at Jose Mourinho and accused him of using negative tactics at Manchester United.

United fell further behind in the title race following Saturday’s 1-1 home draw with Wolves. Mourinho’s men now trail Premier League leaders Liverpool by eight points and still have to face their bitter rivals twice.

Boss Mourinho accused his flops of being too relaxed and having the wrong attitude.

But Pogba risked a new fall-out by claiming his manager’s pragmatic approach is holding United back and said: “We’re at home and we should play much better against Wolves.

“When we’re at home, we should attack, attack,

attack. That’s Old Trafford. We’re here to attack. I think teams are scared when they see Manchester United attacking and attacking. That was our mistake.

“We should just attack and press like we did against Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal last season. When we play like this, it’s easier for us.”

When asked what was stopping United from adopting an all-out attacking style in keeping with the club’s history and tradition, Pogba pointed the finger of blame at Mourinho.

He said: “I can’t tell you, because I’m a player.

“It’s not me. I’m not the manager. I cannot, like, say that, but obviously we should show more options of playing.

“But I cannot say that because I’m a player. That’s my way of thinking – we should move better, we should move more, yeah.”

The France World Cup winner added: “We didn’t lose, but for me we should have won.

“We’ve had three home games and we’ve got four points. It’s not enough.”
