TAI WOFFINDEN is on track to be the first Brit to win three world titles after the

10th Grand Prix victory of his career.

The Great Britain skipper’s win at the German Grand Prix means he goes into the final round in Poland early next month with a 10-point lead over second-placed Bartosz Zmarzlik.

Woffinden, 28, said: “I’m ready to go to Torun in two weeks and lift that trophy.

“I extended my lead by one point, so it’s job done. I can go home, relax and focus on two weeks’ time.”

His victory in tricky conditions on Saturday night in Teterow leaves him only 12 points away from being crowned world champion again.

And even if he fails to pick up the dozen points, Zmarzlik must finish at least 10 points ahead of him in the eighth and final round at Torun, Poland, on October 6.

Woffinden had been looking over his shoulder as the Pole whittled his

28-point lead down to just nine.

But he bounced back with his third GP win of the year, keeping Zmarzlik back in third place, a point behind.

The Monster Energy rider said: “I feel good, I deal with pressure well.

“In fact, to be honest, I don’t even really feel pressure.

“I know what I’ve got to do and when I’ve got to do it and it’s the business end of the season now and we’re definitely moving in the right direction.

“I mean business. That’s why I was on the top step.

“The final was a race with massive significance. That’s why I won it.

“I knew what it meant and that’s why I went out and won.

“It was a big night and I needed to step up and I did.”

While Woffy was heading for the 10th GP win of his career, GB team-mate Craig Cook was off to hospital after a big crash in his opening ride.

He broke his wrist in two places but is adamant he wants to ride for club side Belle Vue in tonight’s top flight play-off semi-final against King’s Lynn.

He said: “It’s doesn’t seem too bad or too painful, so I will see how it is tomorrow.”
