No, of course you’re not, but if you heed the advice of TV money guru Martin Lewis, now’s the time you should be pulling your finger out, prezzie-wise, and grabbing the best bargains before the big rush. That’s one of the reasons he’s bringing us THE MARTIN LEWIS MONEY SHOW LIVE – CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN (8pm, ITV). The other reason, I assume, is to make us throw bricks at the telly, screaming: “For God’s sake, pal, Christmas is three flaming months away.”
MIND you, the programme that follows is about a woman who has two birthdays every year, which must require even crazier levels of planning. QUEEN OF THE WORLD (9.15pm, ITV) is the first in a two-part royal documentary, focusing on Her Majesty’s role as head of the Commonwealth, or at least using this as a good excuse to have a nose around behind the scenes. LEADING a slightly more basic existence, meanwhile, is the hairy old guy we meet tonight in BEN FOGLE: NEW LIVES IN THE WORLD, kicking off its latest series (9.15pm, Channel 5). Now nearly 70, Robert Runyon was a promising young medical student before deciding to drop out of the rat race in the 1960s and buy himself 200 acres of land deep in the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas. That’s where he spends most of his time nowadays, all on his tod. “So would you describe yourself as a woodsman?” Ben inquires.
“I wouldn’t describe myself as anything,” Robert chuckles, “but a super-eccentric nut.”
