SINGER Timmy Matley fell to his death from a 13th-floor balcony while high on crystal meth, an inquest heard.

Fans of his band, The Overtones, had been told the 36-year-old had “died suddenly” and it was then assumed he had lost a battle with skin cancer.

But an inquest at Poplar Coroner’s Court revealed he had the Class A drug in his system when he died in London’s Penn Court in April.

The hearing heard how Timmy had got locked out on a friend’s balcony.

He fell as he tried to climb down, with his cause of death given as multiple traumatic injuries.

Timmy was forced to pull out of the doowop group’s 2016 Christmas tour after being diagnosed with melanoma.

A statement at the time said: “I need to share some news with you about something that is going on in my life at the moment. I’m devastated to actually be writing this but unfortunately I won’t be able to join the boys on the road for this Christmas tour.

“In September this year I was diagnosed with melanoma (skin cancer).

“In October I had an operation to remove some lymph nodes and had hoped that would be the only treatment required. But just recently more lumps around my collar bone and neck were discovered which will need further, ongoing treatment.”

Bandmates Lachie Chapman, Darren Everest, Mike Crawshaw and Mark Franks said: “Timmy, our funny, talented, beautiful friend, bandmate and brother, was dearly loved and is deeply missed.”
