Fuel bill fraud rap
FORMER EastEnder Danniella Westbrook faces jail after being convicted of fraud over an unpaid fuel bill.
The troubled actress was found guilty in her absence of failing to pay for £32.90 of petrol in Spain.
The 44-year-old, set to have a hysterectomy this month after revealing she has womb cancer, was arrested as she tried to fly out of Malaga in April and thrown in a police cell for the night.
But she failed to turn up for her court date in Velez Rubio near Almeria yesterday.
Fuel station owner Serafino Reche, 44, told the hearing: “She came in and emptied her handbag on the counter and said she had no money.
“She left a foreign driving licence and said she’d pay later but I never heard from her again.”
Afterwards, he admitted he had never heard of the former Celebrity Big Brother star – who battled drug addiction after leaving
EastEnders.
He added: “Hopefully the bad publicity will shame her into paying me.
“I think she knew she had no money before she filled her car up.”
Juan Carlos Costela, prosecuting, demanded a fraud conviction and £160 fine, on top of payment for the bill.
Judge Francisco Javier
CONVICTED: Westbrook Kimatrai found the Londonborn mum of two guilty and will sentence her at a later date.
He is expected to levy a smaller fine with the threat of going to prison if she fails to pay up.
