I grew up in the 50s and 60s with an outside toilet shared by 3 families, no fridge, no hot water, no central heating, no TV etc, etc, but we were happy cos we had a sense of humour, and didn’t take life seriously, maybe the snowflakes wouldn’t suffer from deppresion as much, if they adopted a sense of humour.

I couldn’t agree more with the Daily Star comments on the eye injury to Corine Remande during the Ryder Cup. This was a tragic accident. Pursuing a claim against the organisers is not appropriate. Let’s hope the claim is unsuccessful or a ridiculous precedent would be set.

It was very sad about the young girl Natasha dying because of unknown ingredients in a sandwich. Things have been tightened up since this untimely death. But how many people actually study this technical jargon – 2/10 maybe. I for one think if it says cheese & onion, tuna mayo etc ok for me. TonyB

Bolton bird: The NHS has not had its budget cut but however much any government pours in it is always claimed it needs more. That we have a broken healthcare model does not seem directly relevant to the question of aid spending but of course we should be measuring outcomes and it is right to question this when thousands of pensioners die as they can’t afford to heat their homes properly.
