It's time to grab the top watch!

ALL BOXES TICKED

-

IT’S finally time to buy a smartwatch and join the wearable revolution.

The all-new Apple Watch Series 4 is here and it’s the best the firm has made.

In fact, it’s the greatest smartwatch full stop.

This device straps to your wrist boasting a 30% bigger display and more power than ever before.

This means you can cram the things you love on to the screen with every app opening faster than this watch can tick. Apple’s thinner design also means it doesn’t feel too bulky and it’s remarkably comfy.

Another nice addition is the new Digital Crown.

This intricate wheel helps you navigate around the screen with subtle haptic feedback now allowing you to physically feel the dial being twisted and turned.

Of course, the Apple Watch can monitor your daily activity levels, but it now automatically works out what you are up to.

Start walking and the watch will ask if you want this session tracked and stored.

It even knows when you began the routine so you don’t lose any vital data. We can’t emphasise enough how good it is if you want to lose that belly and get a little fitter.

There is another health benefit of the Apple Watch Series 4 and it could actually save your life. The new heart rate monitor keeps a constant eye on your body’s power source with it alerting you if it spots anything irregular.

Another feature coming soon is the ability to record a full ECG by simply placing your finger on the Digital Crown.

This heart chart can then be saved as a PDF and sent straight to a doctor. And that’s not all, as new fall detection can help if you’ve tumbled to the floor.

If the worst should happen, the Apple Watch can automatically call the emergency services and a chosen contact. Sadly, like all of Apple’s recent flagship products, the Apple Watch isn’t cheap.

Prices start from £399, but this can rise to more than £840 for the top of the range model. There’s also a couple of missing features including an alwayson display and sleep tracking.

VERDICT

The Apple Watch was already the best smartwatch in town, but the Series 4 takes this to another level. The bigger screen, extra speed and slimmer design all make this a must-have device.

But it’s the health benefits, such as heart monitoring that really makes the Series 4 stand out from the crowd.

Last year we decided we couldn’t give the Apple Watch 3 the full five stars, but that’s not the case in 2018. It now gets top marks from us.
