THE glorious Indian summer kicks into full gear today with 24C temperatures ahead of a stormy weekend washout.

Forecasters are predicting a four-day heatwave before it all comes crashing down again.

Met Office bosses have even issued a “danger to life” warning for the coming weekend.

Wet and windy weather from the Arctic will lash the nation.

The west coast, north and Northern

Ireland will bear the brunt. But we have got a wonderful few days ahead, with temperatures hitting the mid-20s all week as the record heat of 2018 continues into the autumn.

This year saw the hottest summer since the 1976 scorcher.

And hot air blowing up from mainland Europe today will keep the south of England balmy as pumpkins appear in shops and punters prepare for Halloween.

Met Office forecaster Richard Miles said: “Today looks warmest with 24C or thereabouts in London.

“It will be warm pretty much everywhere in the south and the Midlands, with 21C in the north.

“A continental air mass from France and lots of sunshine is pushing temperatures 10C above October’s average 14C temperature.

“Thursday also looks like the mid-20s, with the south still at around 24C on Saturday and staying quite calm.
