JON was kicked off the Great British Bake Off after his Only Fools And Horsesinspired showstopper cake was judged too much of a classic Trotter “knock-off”.

The Welshman channelled the classic 80s sitcom in last night’s show for his vegan creation.

The dad-of-four christened it “Only Fools Eat Horses” in tribute to his favourite sitcom and topped his creation with a meringue pineapple to honour the notorious ice bucket on Del’s living-room bar. But, staying true to the bumbling style of Trotters Independent Traders, the cake collapsed giving the gateaux a lopsided look.

When Paul Hollywood told him: “It looks a bit sad” the 47-year-old shot back: “It’s knocked off,” a reference to the market traders’ signature style of flogging off stolen goods.

Tribute

Although the flavours in the dairy and egg-free chocolate fudge cake with an orange curd icing impressed Paul, Prue said she thought it was “claggy”.

After he was booted off the Del Boy fan said: “I am immensely proud of what I have achieved.

“To make it past Week 1 I would have been proud, but to make it to Week 7 it’s been absolutely amazing, it really has. Cheers anyway!”

Jon became a firm favourite in the tent thanks to his love of flamboyant tropical shirts.

And, as a way of saying goodbye to the cheerful baker, all other contestants have pledged to wear an Hawaiian shirt next week as a tribute to him.
