WHAT’S HOT TO WATCH TODAY
BLIMEY, what’s up with Lord Sugar? He looks really drawn.
Oh, hang on, silly me, that’s because he is. In this week’s edition of THE APPRENTICE (9pm, BBC1) he appears as an actual cartoon. Not for the whole show, which is a shame, but for the beginning bit, where the twonks get issued with instructions for their latest task.
Having been rudely awoken as usual by that grumpy recorded lady who always phones at the crack of dawn to tell them their cars will be outside in, what is it, 20 seconds or something mental, the teams gather at the House of Illustration in London’s King’s Cross, only to find it’s just Karren and Claude there to greet them. Lord S himself, they then discover, is present merely in cartoon form, on the front of the comics each team is handed. Augmented Reality cartoon form, that is. Hence he then starts talking at them.
This week, announces Cartoon Al, they must each create a new comic for 8-to-12-year-olds. That means dreaming up a story and a key character, designing a high-tech cover, then trying to wow key figures in the industry. AM I A MURDERER? (9pm, ITV) tells the weird story of Janet Holt, a woman who claims that in 1976 she shot dead her business partner, Fred Handford, after he’d allegedly raped her.
Police reckon she’s made the whole thing up. They’ve never found any evidence to back her claim. Fred’s daughter disagrees.
It was psychotherapy that apparently triggered memories of what Janet believes she did.
So can a session with a memory expert now solve this mystery once and for all?
