Brazilian is confident his time will come at Reds

- By DAVID ANDERSON

FABINHO insists he can handle English football – despite not yet managing a single minute for Liverpool in the Premier League.

The Brazilian’s three appearances for the Reds since his £39.9m summer switch from Monaco have been in the Champions League and Carabao Cup.

His only start was in the Carabao Cup loss to Chelsea this month and the perception is that Kop boss Jurgen Klopp is unsure if Fabinho is ready for the demands of the Premier League.

The midfielder rejects this and insists he is getting used to the pace and physical nature of the English game.

“My process to adapt to English football has been very good,” said Fabinho.

“Since pre-season I believe I have understood the way Jurgen Klopp plays and the way the team plays.

“It’s a new experience for me because Klopp has a different style of work from the way I’m used to, but this is something I will learn.

“I have learned a few things from him, but it is just the start. He is a coach who demands a lot from his players, not just in matches but also on a daily basis in training.”

Fabinho’s lack of game time has not affected his international prospects and

Brazil coach Tite has included him in his squad for the friendlies against Saudi

Arabia in Riyadh and Argentina in Jeddah. The 24-yearold has teamed up with club-mates Roberto Firmino and Alisson and says they are helping him settle at Anfield.

“My relationship with my team-mates has also been very good, especially with the Brazilians like Roberto Firmino, who has been helping me, and also Alisson,” he said.

“I’m playing a little bit more and that is important to me because it is important to adapt on the pitch by playing matches.” Klopp still believes in Fabinho and could finally hand him his chance in the Premier League after the international break because of his mounting injury problems in midfield.

James Milner has been ruled out for up to a month with the hamstring injury which forced him off in Sunday’s goalless draw with Manchester City. Milner is expected to miss the games against Huddersfield and Cardiff as well as Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

The former England international is targeting Liverpool’s trip to Arsenal on November 3 for his comeback. Klopp could turn to Fabinho as he is already without England duo Adam Lallana and Alex OxladeChamberlain.
