PRINCE Harry and Meghan declared yesterday they are “ready” to become parents.

They spoke of their excitement as they were handed their first baby gifts on tour in Australia.

The royal couple got a toy kangaroo and its joey plus some baby Ugg boots from their hosts in Sydney.

Meghan replied, “Our first baby gift”, after governor-general Sir Peter Cosgrove and his wife, Lady Cosgrove, gave them the presents.

Fans flocked to catch a glimpse of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they visited a zoo and took a boat ride to the Sydney Opera House.

Harry, 34, said: “We couldn’t think of a better place to announce the upcoming baby.

“This is my wife’s first visit here so I’m very excited to show her this wonderful country of yours.”

And Meghan, 37, said: “We’re ready! We’re excited to join the club.”

They will travel today to Dubbo, 250 miles west of Sydney, to have a picnic in the park with up to 10,000 Australians in tow. A senior royal source said: ®

“The buzz around the place is electrifying wherever the Duke and Duchess go at the moment. So many people are keen to be involved in any way they can.” The couple have not revealed if their baby will be a boy or girl. But former actress Meghan, who used to star in TV drama Suits, dreams of having a little girl, and has already picked out the initial M for her first name. She bought a £4,500 present for her child, engraved with the initials she wants it to have. Meghan told a magazine in 2015: “I totally splurged and bought the two-tone version of the watch.

“I had it engraved on the back ‘To M.M. From M.M’. “And I plan to give it to my daughter one day. “That’s what makes pieces special, the connection you have to them.”

Meghan paid a touching tribute to Princess Diana by wearing the butterfly earrings worn by Diana on her 1986 royal tour to Canada. CHATS: Oz star Missy Higgins, top, and tot
