Tourists ‘scared away’ by Brits

STORM: Benidorm TOURISTS are scared away from Benidorm by boozy Brits as rowdy groups terrorise the streets, it was claimed yesterday.

And families are now too afraid to go to the resort, says Karen Maling Cowles, from the Spanish town’s newly-founded British Businesses Association.

Outrageous antics include parading around naked during drunken nights out and constant drug taking.

Karen, who moved to Benidorm 28 years ago, said: “This is what attracts people – crime, sex, robbery and drugs.

“It goes from March to the end of June, then begins again in September until the end of November.

“And it’s sad because in the end, we are all victims of this situation.

“During the 28 years I have lived in Spain, I have always noticed that there is a separation [between the British and Spanish].

“The British usually live together and do not usually integrate themselves in the Spanish life or culture.”

She added the association is considering a number of options to put an end to the “drunk tourism” causing problems.

Karen said: “We believe we should avoid the signs advertising ‘live sex’, especially during the day and the sale of vulgar T-shirts.”
