You are dumped - Danny
NO LOVE: Cipriani DANNY CIPRIANI’S England career has come to a dead end after Eddie Jones told him he had fallen out of love with him.
The Gloucester fly-half, who started England’s last Test against South Africa in June, was yesterday axed for the four autumn Tests.
Despite being voted September’s Premiership player of the month, Cipriani has been overlooked for the 36-man squad.
England coach Jones, who is preparing for the first Test against South Africa on November 3, said: “I rang him on the phone to tell him. Have you ever had a girl tell you that she doesn’t love you? You don’t remember the rest of the conversation.
“When you tell them they’re not in, they say, ‘Yes, yes’, but they don’t hear anything.
“At the end of the day, it comes down to a judgement. So people think he’s played well?
“Well, maybe I don’t think he’s played that well.
“The judgement is that he’s the third choice in our hierarchy at the moment. George Ford and Owen Farrell are our first two No.10s. I have made it very explicit to him what he needs to work on. And that’s all I can do.”
Farrell and Dylan Hartley were named as co-captains in a trial run for next year’s World Cup.
