Woman cleared of baby threat

-

A WOMAN cleared of threatening to stab a baby on a train danced out of the courthouse after her trial.

Millicent Barnes, 22, was filmed shouting angrily at a family standing around the 15-month-old.

She was arrested after the video was put online in a bid to trace her.

But at her trial yesterday, Ms Barnes was found not guilty.

Geraldine Brannagan and her family were on a London Underground train in July when an argument broke out.

The altercation started when Ms Brannagan’s father allegedly bumped into Ms Barnes twice with a pram and did not apologise.

At one point Ms Barnes was heard to shout: “I don’t give a f*** about the baby.”

But she told City of London Magistrates’ Court the child’s family threatened to “do her in” and that she was targeted because of her ethnicity.

Acquitting her of using threatening words or behaviour, magistrate Ian Luder said: “It’s clear to us that whatever the cause, there was a nasty altercation.

“The result was fear by Ms Brannagan of violence.

“We have no doubt this is what Ms Brannagan felt, but we don’t consider this was your intention.”
