A GIRL badly hurt in the Manchester Arena bomb blast has won a Brave Britons title.

Freya Lewis, 15, suffered 29 injuries in the horror attack and needed 70 hours of surgery.

She had treatment for a broken arm, broken legs, severe burns and facial and internal injuries. Her best friend Nell Jones died at the scene of the atrocity which killed 22 people after an Ariana Grande concert.

Since then, Freya has taken part in the Great Manchester 2.5km Junior Run, raising almost £60,000 for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. She was handed her award by hero Pc Wayne Marques at the Amplifon Awards for Brave Britons.

She was named overall winner and also picked up the Young Hero Award at The Army and Navy Club in London.

Freya said: “I am extremely overwhelmed by winning the two Amplifon awards.

“It’s crazy because all the time I just feel like a normal girl from Cheshire. I feel so privileged to have won in a room of such special people.

“To be a finalist was exciting, but now to win the overall award I feel really honoured.”

Wayne, who was attacked in the London Bridge atrocity just two weeks after the suicide bombing in Manchester last year, said Freya was an “inspiration to the nation”.

He added: “She has shown the fight of good over evil will always triumph.”
