BIELSA WILL RAISE THE ROOFE

- By DAVID ANDERSON

MARCELO BIELSA claims his Leeds players must be tough enough to handle the competition for places at Elland Road.

Kemar Roofe is back from injury to challenge Wales striker Tyler Roberts for the right to spearhead the Leeds attack at Blackburn today.

Roofe bagged four goals in six Championship games to be August player of the month, but Roberts scored three times while his team-mate was out with a calf injury.

The Leeds coach says he is not bothered about disappointing one of them.

Bielsa said: “We have two possibilities for one same position. They can play together also. When you have competition with two players for one position it makes both players better.

“If you have a player, who is becoming weaker because of the competition it means we didn’t choose the right player, because professional players are specialists in competition.

“They compete with opponents, they compete with the difficulties of the game and they compete with their team-mates.”

Roofe’s return is a timely boost for an attack which has scored just four in their last four matches.

Bielsa spent the international break working on his players’ movement, adding: “We worked on the possibilities of receiving the ball behind opponents.”
