CHAT’S THE WAY TO DO IT, SILVA

Marco talks lift Toffees stars

MARCO SILVA has revealed he has had one-on-one chats with his Everton players to boost their self-confidence.

Silva feels some of his players lack belief and has taken them aside for a pep talk.

It is paying off – and Everton will record three successive Premier League wins for the first time since January last year if they beat Crystal Palace at home tomorrow.

“I know we did well last summer in signing players with quality, but we already had players at the club with quality,” said the Everton boss.

“Some of them, in some moments, don’t believe how good they are.

“Good results and good performances help them believe, but I’m here to support them and show them they have quality.

“In some moments, if I have to speak to them one-on-one I will do that. Sometimes I will do it in a training session because we’re there on the pitch and we can do everything.

Hope

“But if I have to do it in individual meetings, then I will do that in the week as well.”

Michael Keane, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Tom Davies are three beneficiaries of Silva’s chats and they have all improved on last season.

“I’m seeing an improvement,” said Silva. “I hope they keep believing and I hope our fans keep believing in our players and keep supporting them as much as they can.

“With our boys working hard during the match and our fans supporting them, we can make it difficult for our opponents.”

Tuesday marks the first anniversary of Ronald Koeman’s sacking and the Toffees have moved on from the chaos and infighting of last season.

Former Watford boss Silva claims the key is everyone at the club is now united – him, the players, the fans and the board.

He added: “Since I came, I think it’s really important that we go on this journey together.

“We will have some fantastic Saturdays and Sundays, and in some other moments we will not achieve what we want. But it’s very important that we are all together at every moment because together we are stronger.”
