We would have seen red twice says Cork

- By RICHARD TANNER

JACK CORK felt Vincent Kompany (above) and Leroy Sane would have seen red if they had been Burnley players.

Kompany and Sane both escaped with cautions from referee Jon Moss for reckless challenges on Aaron Lennon and Matt Lowton that Clarets manger Sean Dyche felt should have resulted in dismissals.

Burnley midfielder Cork agreed, saying: “Those two tackles could have been red cards, which is frustrating because if that’s us, then maybe it goes the other way. On a different day it might have gone a different way.” Cork felt the 5-0 scoreline was hard on the Clarets and that the game swung on City’s controversial second goal early in the second half.

Burnley players stopped, thinking that referee Moss was about to award a penalty, only for him to wave play on with his assistant failing to spot that the loose ball had crossed the byline before David Silva cut it back for Bernardo Silva to score. Cork added: “There were just a few things leading up to the second goal, though we shouldn’t have stopped for the penalty call.

“It looks like the ball has gone out of play but it’s a good finish.

“We limited them to a few opportunities and if that doesn’t happen for the second goal maybe we see it out at a goal or two.

“They quickly made it 3-0 and then they got the two really good goals after that. That was the game done.”
