I suffocated midwife in intense rage

MURDERED midwife Samantha Eastwood was choked to death after a secret affair with her killer.

Michael Stirling, 32, wept as he admitted killing the 28-year-old medic during a row.

He wrapped his hands round her throat, mouth and nose and strangled her before dumping her body in a shallow grave.

Samantha had been engaged to John Peake – the brother of Stirling’s wife Katie. But Samantha and John ended their seven-year relationsh­ip in January and called off their wedding.

Worried colleagues raised the alarm after she failed to turn up for a shift at the Royal Stoke University Hospital on July 27.

Her body was found wrapped in a duvet with tape around her eyes and face, at a disused quarry near Caverswall, Staffs, on August 4.

Fencing worker Stirling yesterday pleaded guilty to her murder when he appeared via videolink at Northampto­n Crown Court. His barrister Charles Miskin told the court that the murder was not a premeditat­ed act.
