MURDERED midwife Samantha Eastwood was choked to death after a secret affair with her killer.

Michael Stirling, 32, wept as he admitted killing the 28-year-old medic during a row.

He wrapped his hands round her throat, mouth and nose and strangled her before dumping her body in a shallow grave.

Samantha had been engaged to John Peake – the brother of Stirling’s wife Katie. But Samantha and John ended their seven-year relationship in January and called off their wedding.

Worried colleagues raised the alarm after she failed to turn up for a shift at the Royal Stoke University Hospital on July 27.

Her body was found wrapped in a duvet with tape around her eyes and face, at a disused quarry near Caverswall, Staffs, on August 4.

Fencing worker Stirling yesterday pleaded guilty to her murder when he appeared via videolink at Northampton Crown Court. His barrister Charles Miskin told the court that the murder was not a premeditated act.
