Erik: We must win

- By ADRIAN KAJUMBA

ERIK LAMELA admits Tottenham are running out of chances in the Champions League.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men are up against it in Group B after losing their opening two games to Inter Milan and Barcelona.

Spurs’ conquerors are both on six points while Spurs and Dutch side PSV, who meet tomorrow, are yet to get off the mark.

Chances

Argentinian star Lamela said: “We know we have to win. We started the Champions League by losing in Milan.

“Then we lost to Barcelona and we will not have too many more chances, so we must win.”

With five goals and three assists in his eight games this season, Lamela is in the sort of form that will make him hard to leave out in Holland tomorrow.

But his workload is having to be carefully managed after he spent 13 months out injured and needed surgery on both hips before his return to action last November.

Lamela said: “The club know how to manage me after a lot of time together.

“Sometimes I cannot go 80 per cent, even in training. I feel crazy at times but it’s like this.

“I try to train hard and aim to arrive at the game in a good condition and take care of myself.

“Normally we train really hard but I want to play the games – it’s more important than training.

“This is what we’re doing now and the manager and the staff, they take care of me and all the team.

“I’m feeling good now, my hips are better. After you’ve been injured it’s hard when you come back because you want to feel the same as before.

“But now I’m happy on the pitch and with my place in the team. I feel good with my team-mates.”
