WHAT’S HOT TO WATCH TODAY

CANDIDATE Kayode made a big impression last week on THE APPRENTICE.

Did you see how he persuaded punters to buy those ropey rip-off doughnuts? He simply overwhelmed them with his charm.

“Whereabouts are you from? he asked one guy.

“From Germany,” came the reply. “Ahh!” exclaimed Kayode. “Sprechen Sie Deutsch?!”

Even Lord Sugar’s aide Claude Grumpy had to chuckle. In fact, Claude was so entertained by this sales patter that he didn’t even query why Kayode had asked a German if he spoke German. But on to tonight (9pm, BBC1) and I’m afraid our chatty sales-chum isn’t so chirpy.

It’s not so much because Lord Sugar has moved him over to rival lot Collaborative, but because of the role he’s then been saddled with. The teams have been asked to sell stuff at a body-building exhibition, but project manager Sarah Ann has lumbered Kayode with a job selling services, not goods. He makes no attempt to hide his displeasure.

“Even Ray Charles could see I was infuriated with the decision,” he remarks later, one his team are out of earshot. “If they don’t sell every product there, I hate to say it but it’s going to be a very joyful ‘I told you so…’”

ALSO tonight, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford are still seeking life-changing solutions in HOW TO GET A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP (9pm, Channel 5).

Sports scientist Nick Littlehales offers sleep-deprived Eamonn one particularly radical alternative, where he’ll let himself nod off for regular short bursts over a 24-hour period. “I think it’s great,” says Eamonn, “if you’re retired or unemployed…”
