Neil hails ‘best in world’

- by ROB COLE

NEIL WARNOCK has warned his Cardiff defenders they are facing the world’s best trio of forwards at Anfield today.

The Cardiff boss knows his players face a big step up in class against unbeaten Liverpool in the wake of the Bluebirds’ morale-boosting 4-2 win over Fulham last time out.

Liverpool’s Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all scored in the 4-0 midweek rout of Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

And Warnock doesn’t expect any of them to stand down as they will fancy boosting their goal tally.

He said: “It’s virtually impossible for any team to go there at the moment. Their front three is possibly the best in the club game in the world.

“Someone said to me they’ll rest Salah and I said, ‘What, when he’s got a chance of scoring five or six goals against us?’ He’s going to want to play, isn’t he?

Going

“Players at that level are ready to have a couple of days’ rest and then get going again.

“I don’t expect many changes from their midweek team.

“Anyway, if those front three were injured, the next three aren’t bad either. Liverpool can put people to bed in a matter of minutes, you can never take your eye off the ball.”

Despite lifting themselves off the bottom and out of the relegation zone with that long-awaited first win, Warnock added: “It is never too far from your thoughts and you are always looking at the bottom eight or nine clubs.

“Everyone will be doing the same. One result has gone our way and we are up there.

“So with another couple of results you never know where you might be.”
