Pep axe for City sulkers

- By JEREMY CROSS

TOUGH JOB: Guardiola PEP GUARDIOLA has told his Manchester City stars to forget about sulking – or face being dropped.

Guardiola has the strongest squad in the Premier League and has no choice but to leave some big name players on the bench.

The City boss admits it’s a problem to keep everyone happy as he looks to win back-to-back league titles.

But he has no time for anyone who wants to moan and will come down hard on those who do.

Guardiola, whose side face Tottenham at Wembley on Monday night, said: “It’s a problem. Guys are not going to play who deserve to play.

Happy

“When they train in a bad way they are out for themselves but when they try it’s okay. They are professional and they are upset when not selected.

“But when they come back to training they must be happy. The only way to convince me is to convince their team-mates.”

Kevin De Bruyne is fit again after a knee injury to give Guardiola more selection headaches.

It also means the likes of Leroy Sane, Fabian Delph, Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus could struggle for game time.

Meanwhile, the Spaniard is confident his side will be able to adapt if Wembley’s surface is not up to scratch.

The pitch has been cutting up in recent weeks due to the fact some NFL games have been staged on it and Guardiola added: “It is what it is.

“There’s no point in complaining we have to adapt.”
