Poch’s not up for Real switch

STATEMENT: Daniel Levy favourite to get the job but the reality is that Bernabeu chiefs would prefer to have Pochettino after missing out on him in the summer.

Pochettino said: “When we move, I expect to move there.

“Only Daniel (Levy) can say ‘the club is going to move, but you gaffer no’.”

The Argentine will be frustrated, though, at the latest delays to the switch, the north Londoners having initially planned to move in September.

With eight more games now planned at the national stadium, Spurs chairman Levy said: “We’ve taken the decision to confirm that all home games will be played at Wembley up to and including the game against Wolves on December 29.

“There isn’t an hour that goes by when I’m not asked when we will be able to stage our first game at our new home.

“I wish I was able to confirm an exact opening date and fixture.

Pressure

“However, in light of factors completely outside of our control, contractors missing deadlines and possible future unforeseen issues, we are naturally being cautious in respect of our timetable for our test events and official opening game.

“Whilst we are conscious of the need to keep pressure on our contractors to deliver as soon as possible, we are also acutely aware of how difficult the lack of clarity is for our supporters to plan around games, particularly at Christmas and New Year.”

At least Spurs have been boosted by the news that star midfielder Dele Alli is set to sign a new long-term deal.

The England man could also return after a month out with a hamstring injury to face Manchester City on Monday.

Spurs have got to pick themselves up following their 2-2 draw with PSV Eindhoven, a result which has left them facing early elimination from the Champions League.

And they face an equally difficult task against a City side that are, “on another level” according to boss Pochettino.

He said: “They won the Premier League last season – they showed they were the best.

“Manchester City is on another level.

“It is difficult to compare us with them.”
