Brrrits stock up on food supplies
PANICKING families are set to empty shops of supplies as doomsday forecasters predict epic snowfall today.
Some areas in the countryside will experience Arctic chills of -5C.
The frosty conditions mean parts of northern England, Scotland and Wales will see snowfall of several inches.
To avoid going out in the icy conditions, social media users said they planned on filling their shopping trollies. One wrote: “Nope, not doing snow. I’ve bought dozens of eggs, bread and milk.”
Another added: “Can’t be doing with it, I’m going to buy all of the shop’s chocolate and Pringles and hide in my bed until it’s over.”
Met Office meteorologist
Clare Nasir said: “The countryside is going to have a very, very cold start to Saturday morning as temperatures dip down subzero, -3C to -5C through the early hours of Saturday.”
The Met’s forecast for the weekend added: “A bitterly cold Arctic airmass will be established in all parts on Saturday. Strong northerly winds will drive in plenty of showers, which will turn wintry in the north.
“On Sunday, high pressure will topple into northwestern areas, meaning a drier day in prospect.”
Gas engineer Hannah Hughes added: “We know that having no heating or hot water during the colder months is people’s worst disaster and this weekend could be the first real test.”
