BREAK out the bubbly – your Daily Star turns 40 today and we are celebratin­g with your favourite famous faces.

Britain’s favourite tabloid newspaper was launched in Manchester in 1978 and has earned an army of fans around the world.

We’ve launched numerous A-list celebrity careers, broken hard-hitting world exclusive news stories and made our readers laugh out loud with fun tales on a daily basis.

Leading the well-wishers is EastEnders and Carry On legend Dame Barbara Windsor.

She said: “Congratula­tions and wishing you all at the Daily Star a happy 40th birthday and Carry On for the next 40.”

Page 3 icon Linda Lusardi said: “I remember the paper launching and I was gracing the pages back in 1978.

“You are still going strong thanks to all your wonderful readers.”

Liverpool funnyman John Bishop said: “Well done for surviving. You’ve lasted 40 years. That’s an achievemen­t.”

X Factor host Dermot O’Leary joked: “Don’t lurch into a Harley-Davidson-style midlife crisis now you’re hitting 40.”

The show’s former judge Louis Walsh added: “The Daily Star is always the best newspaper for celebrity, music and showbiz news and that’s why I read it every day. Happy big four-oh!”

Pop star Peter Andre said: “Wow. Happy birthday. Wait until you get to 45… then you’ll know what age really is!”

Lib Dem leader Sir Vince Cable added: “Happy birthday, Daily Star.

“You’re still a relative youngster on Fleet Street, but have already produced so many great stories, interviews and scoops.”

Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg, touted to be the next Prime Minister as Theresa May battles to cling to the Conservati­ve leadership, said: “In spite of being 40, no-one could call the Daily Star middle-aged.”

Former Gogglebox star Sandra Martin credits the Daily Star for helping her find a new home.

She said: “So I’d like to say Happy 40th Daily Star – you are the one.”

Towie star Georgia Kousoulou said: “Happy 40th birthday Daily Star, thanks for always making me look good.”

This Morning’s Alice Beer added: “Happy Birthday Daily Star. 25 years ago you gave me my first column. I cut out and saved every issue. Keep rolling.”

Geordie Shore star and I’m A Celeb winner Vicky Pattison said: “I just love working with the Daily Star and their wonderful team. I am their biggest fan.”

Boxer Ricky Hatton added: “Have a knockout day and here’s to the next 40 years.”
