Dragons boss hails another top effort

- By GRAHAM NICKLESS

WREXHAM delighted manager Sam Ricketts in the way they beat Gateshead 3-1 to claim top spot.

The Welsh Dragons are now unbeaten in nine games thanks to an own goal from Fraser Kerr and strikes from Brad Walker and Rekeil Pyke.

Ricketts said: “I thought we were excellent from the start of the game to the very end. At times we moved the ball as well as we have all season.”

Supersub Lois Maynard’s 90th-minute 20-yard effort saved Salford a point but not their place at the summit in the 1-1 draw at Eastleigh.

Ben Strevens, who is expected to be given the Eastleigh job full-time today, said: “You don’t always get what you deserve in football.”

Orient head coach Justin Edinburgh hailed a “massive three points for us” after watching Josh Koroma bag a double in the 3-1 defeat of promotion rivals Fylde.

Kieran Cadogan’s goal gave Sutton a 1-0 home success against Dagenham and boss Paul Doswell said: “It was a game where the result was better than the performance.”

Two Frankie Sunderland penalties helped Bromley thump Hartlepool 4-0 and winning boss Neil Smith said: “We fully deserved the victory.”

Andy Hessenthaler was “over the moon” after Dover beat Maidenhead 2-0 to notch their first league win in 15 attempts.

But Chesterfield were denied their first victory since August when Aaron Williams struck Harrogate’s equaliser in the 97th minute.
