Smalling troll fury

- by DARREN LEWIS

CHRIS SMALLING insists he and his team-mates will not give in to vile internet trolls after Ashley Young suffered disgusting abuse. The Manchester United stars helped their club to a dramatic third win from their last four Premier League games at Bournemouth on Saturday. Smalling (inset) was also slated after Bournemouth’s early goal in United’s 2-1 win. He admitted: “You have got to have a thick skin. You can’t get away from it. You need to have

belief in your own ability.” Smalling spoke out after Young suffered appalling online abuse. Young (left) was forced to lash out at a Twitter troll who posted: “Ashley Young embarrassing. Wouldn’t of minded him on that helicopter.”

The United right-back angrily hit back, saying: “I can take all the abuse you can throw at me but this is vile and disrespectful.”

Smalling bounced back from his early error on Saturday as United again came from behind to take the three points at Bournemouth.

He said: “We need to have belief that we will have bad days but it’s about making sure you have more good days than bad.

“To be able to be at a club like this and last as long as I have, you need to have that courage and belief in your ability. “You’re not going to have good days every week and the bad days are often highlighted when you’re at a big club. “But I believe in myself and I keep working. That’s what I keep doing.” United turn back the clock: See Seriously Football pullout
