CORONATION Street fans fear a host of the soap’s longest-serving stars may be about to quit.

Beverley Callard fuelled worries about an exodus after revealing she is taking a month off to star in a stage production of The Rocky Horror Show.

The actress, who has played Liz McDonald for 29 years, is to play the narrator in the musical at the Opera House in Manchester.

Bev, 61, tweeted: “Hi all seems like a great day to let you know I’m so excited and maybe a little terrified to be performing in The Rocky Horror Show at the Opera House Jan

9-26. Can’t wait!!!

Come and see us!’’

Viewers fear she may be looking for more work off the cobbles.

One wrote on a TV internet forum: “I hope she comes back. When they start doing other jobs it’s usually the first sign they’re off for good.’’ Another said: “Nooooo Liz. Don’t go!!!’’

Beverley’s announceme­nt came days after Brooke Vincent, 26, who has played Sophie Webster for 14 years, talked about the possibilit­y of leaving the show.

She has just launched her own business Oh So B selling life planners, stationery and notebooks.

She said: “If I did decide to ever leave Corrie I’ve got something else to keep my mind ticking over.’’

Helen Flanagan, 28, who has played Brooke’s screen sister Rosie for 18 years, has hinted she too may be focusing on life away from the Street by revealing she wants more kids.

The actress is on maternity leave after having second daughter Delilah Ruby with footballer Scott Sinclair.

She recently revealed: “I really want four children.’’

Jennie McAlpine, 34, who has played Fiz Brown for 17 years, is also on maternity leave.

And Malcolm Hebden, 78, who has been Norris Cole for 24 years, is on sick leave after a heart attack.

One fan wrote: “Everyone I love seems to have vanished. Come back !!!!!!!!!! ’’

The soap recently lost Catherine Tyldesley, 35, who played Eva Price for seven years, and Shayne Ward, 34, who was Aidan Connor.

And 25-year-old actress Katie McGlynn’s character Sinead Tinker has been diagnosed with cancer.
