A NURSE died from a heart attack on a girls’ holiday in Dubai after falling ill on the flight from Britain.

Charlotte Carter, 30, was excited for her winter sunshine break before tragedy struck.

Her family now faces £30,000 in medical bills to bring her home as she had no travel insurance.

She flew with two others on October 29 from Gatwick Airport to see expat friend Kate George, and they ordered bottles of champagne before taking off.

But she started feeling unwell on the seven-hour flight, before suffering a heart attack in a taxi to their luxury hotel.

The mental health nurse was taken into intensive care and resuscitated “multiple times” but could not be saved. Friends of Charlotte, of

Swansea, are crowdfunding money online to help cover the costs, and have already reached more than £18,000.

Kind

Megan Boyes said: “We want to help raise money as, like many young people do, Charlotte didn’t take out travel insurance which means the medical bills and repatriation costs will be very high.

“Charlotte was the most caring, kind and thoughtful person and she dedicated her life to helping others as a mental health nurse.”

Dubai pal Kate added: “My best friend came on holiday to see me and went into cardiac arrest in the taxi on the way to my house.

“She was understandably excited and looking forward to her Dubai holiday and completely forgetting about insurance.

“Charlotte was on the flight messaging me saying she can’t wait to see me and planning our week, she was TRIP: Charlotte & Melissa absolutely fine, even on top form and this happens completely out of the blue.”

Melissa Jenkins added: “Get our girl home. Charlotte Carter we love you. Dubai will always have a piece of my heart but has also taken away a piece.”

A Foreign Office and Commonwealth spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British woman following her death and are in contact with the Emirati authorities.”
